How to Lose Ten Pounds Eating Dark Chocolate

Your mother told you not to eat your dessert before dinner but if you want to lose 10 lbs in 7 days it might be a good idea.  Chocolate is – amazingly – one of those foods that help you lose weight. There are three ways that eating chocolate can help you drop the fat:

1.            Just those three small squares of chocolate reduces the appetite by making you feel full before you even sit down to dinner by working quickly to raise blood sugar.

2.            Chocolate that has a high cocoa content has tannins in it that is effective in preventing constipation because the chocolate contains a lot of fiber.

3.            The polyphenols in cacao is thought to produce a thyroid hormone which in turn increases blood flow and basal metabolism.

At the very least you should be able to lose 10 lbs in a month if you eat three squares of chocolate and a salad with a bit of protein rather than a gigantic dinner at the end of a day. The idea is that eating chocolate BEFORE dinner satiates your hunger.

Aside from helping to assist people in their weight loss efforts, eating chocolate with a high cacao content has other benefits as well including –

Keep in mind that not any old chocolate is going to work for this purpose. You also cannot eat chocolate any old time. For this to work you must stick to the following regimen -

  • Eat only chocolate bars that have 70% cacao content and the more bitter the chocolate is – the better!
  • Eat three divided doses of one chocolate bar, (about three to four squares) twenty minutes before eating each of your meals a day.
  • Eat the chocolate slowly to receive the maximum benefits possible from consuming the chocolate.
  • When buying chocolate be sure to read the label as well. Some products are definitely much higher in fat and calories than others.
  • Try to choose a higher quality chocolate bar to eat – they are more expensive but generally the ones that cost more are better for you nutritionally.

Important too!  If you have allergies to nuts you also have to be quite careful and read the chocolate bar labels. Stay away from any label that says, “May Contain Nuts.”
