How to Lose 10 Pounds Giving Up Meat

It is not mandatory to give up meat to lose weight but if you do you w might lose 10 pounds in 1 month. No diet can cause you to lose 10 pounds in 1 day but getting rid of meat can help people lose about half a pound of day.

We have good reasons for eating meat in the first place. Our bodies use a pool of about twenty amino acids to make up proteins for many different uses. We are able to produce fourteen of them ourselves and have to get the others from the foods we eat. As our bodies are constantly constructing proteins at the cellular level and eliminating old ones, we need a continual supply of amino acids from food to keep the process balanced and meat is a good source. However meat is also a very fattening source of protein for most people.

Thankfully we can also get most of the protein we eat from plat. According to the Harvard School of Public Health, animal and plant proteins are not different so much in their quality as in how the proteins are presented to the body and what other nutrients accompany them.

A portion of meat may have a high density of various essential amino acids, but it also has loads of saturated fats. Proteins from legumes and grains, on the other hand, can deliver an equal number of amino acids with little saturated fat.

Plant sources of protein also contain antioxidants that are critical to neutralizing cancer-causing free radicals in the body. A varied plant-based diet, then, is a protective diet—sufficient in amino acids for protein needs; high in fiber, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals; and low in saturated fats. This can cause weight loss.

Dairy products are full of protein and calcium but along with that nourishing calcium comes a lot of unhealthy saturated fat and animal protein.

Fish can be a better choice but the news about environmental pollutants in fish just keeps getting worse and worse.  It is a protein source that is full of toxins like mercury. The bottom line is that fish isn’t a safe alternative to meat after all!

As for chicken, beef and pork – these meats all fall into the acidic category and are not suitable to eat.

Generally, excess acidity can lead to inflammation and fatigue, and is associated with an increase in the risks of certain types of cancer, including pancreatic cancer.

When meat is cooked is, carcinogenic compounds are formed that can also cause cancer.  Diets high in animal protein are also correlated with high rates of obesity.

A diet rich in animal protein also puts us at greater risk of cardiovascular disease. That’s because the high levels of saturated fat in animal foods take their toll on our hearts.

The underlying cause of cardiovascular—or heart and blood vessel—disease is atherosclerosis, which is essentially constant damage to your arteries. This damage comes from elevated levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL, or “bad” cholesterol), which itself comes from eating foods with extremely high levels of saturated fats.  That means, if you want a healthy heart and are serious about losing weight you should consider leading a life with  “no meat!”
